Azeroth Reborn

A new chance to explore the world of WoW within Skyrim.

Azeroth Reborn is a mod for Skyrim Special Edition and Anniversary Edition that transports the Eastern Kingdoms continent from World of Warcraft to Bethesda’s popular action-RPG. It was developed by Taryl80 and initially released on September 30, 2025.

This ambitious project is an adaptation and expansion of Azeroth in Skyrim, originally released in 2014 for the Legacy Edition. It promises updates and optimizations for modern editions of the game, allowing you to explore nostalgic WoW areas—such as Stormwind, Westfall, and Duskwood—directly in the Skyrim engine.

Azeroth Reborn is a robust recreation of several areas from Blizzard’s MMORPG. It’s worth noting that, at least as of this writing, the mod has a number of limitations, but it does contain hundreds of enemies scattered throughout the map, albeit without any progression or story system.

Areas

Azeroth Reborn adds a massive new playable area, covering eight regions inspired by World of Warcraft:

  • Blasted Lands
  • Duskwood
  • Forest of Elwynn
  • Redridge Mountains
  • Stranglethorn Vale
  • Stormwind
  • Swamp of Sorrows
  • Westfall

These maps recreate the atmosphere and setting of Azeroth’s universe, allowing players to walk through the streets of Stormwind, wander across the dark woods of Duskwood, or explore the treacherous swamps of Swamp of Sorrows — all within the world of Skyrim.

Structures and special features

In addition to recreating the territories, the mod includes a few functional buildings inspired by WoW:

  • Mage Tower in Stormwind: serves as a teleport hub between the different regions of Azeroth Reborn, making travel easier.
  • Banks in Stormwind and Booty Bay: act as persistent storage, allowing players to safely deposit their items.

While there are no quests, the focus is on exploration and atmosphere — similar to conceptual mods like Aether Suite. The author emphasizes that the goal is to provide a nostalgic sightseeing experience rather than a mission-driven campaign.

Installation and access

Installation is simple: just extract the files into your main Skyrim directory (where the skyrim.exe file is located) and enable the mod through your preferred mod manager. The portal to Azeroth can be found in Falkreath, behind the Grave Concoctions shop.

Important notice: known bugs

The mod has a critical bug that may cause quest NPCs to behave erratically — some may start walking around aimlessly, which can break quest progress. For this reason, the author recommends making a full manual save before activating the mod, and disabling it after exploring Azeroth.

Enable and disable Azeroth Reborn as you wish to play. This way, the mod remains fun without compromising your main campaign,” the creator explains.

Limitations and project scope

  • The mod covers only part of the Eastern Kingdoms. Regions such as Tirisfal and Eastern Plaguelands were removed due to being unfinished.
  • The author has no plans to expand the mod or add quests, armors, or dialogues.
  • As said earlier, the current version contains hundreds of enemies scattered across the map, but no storyline or progression system.
  • Visual elements originally from World of Warcraft were simplified to avoid potential copyright issues.
